Delta Gamma was founded in 1873 in Oxford, Mississippi by three young women who were unable to go home during a Christmas holiday. Together they formed a club built on a foundation of fostering high ideals of friendship, promoting educational and cultural interests, a true sense of social responsibility and developing the best qualities of character that now has more than 230,000 initiated members. Today, Delta Gamma’s membership continues to grow with 152 collegiate chapters and more than 250 alumnae groups across the United States and Canada. Service for Sight, Delta Gamma Fraternity’s Philanthropy, has been at the heart of the Delta Gamma mission since 1936.
