Kappa Delta Sorority was founded at the State Female Normal School (now Longwood University) in Farmville, Virginia, on October 23, 1897. Kappa Delta's original ideals of friendship, fellowship, and sisterly love have remained constant and strong for more than 110 years, and the KD sisterhood has today grown into an association with over 200,000 initiated sisters nationwide. Kappa Delta is proud to have four philanthropy projects - the most of any Panhellenic sorority. These causes include Girls Scouts of the USA, Prevent Child Abuse America, the Children's Hospital in Richmond, VA, and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
